Pnoy visits Pablo-hit areas in Davao, Comval

President Benigno Aquino III on Friday visited victims of typhoon Pablo in devastated areas in Southern Philippines,  including Davao and  Compostela Valley.

President Aquino and some Cabinet members , arrived around 10 a.m. at the Davao International Airport and proceeded to board a chopper which flew them to Compostela Valley, one of the hardest hit by the typhoon, a radio report said.

Cabinet members who accompanied the president were Local Government Sec. Mar Roxas, Social Welfare and Development Sec. Dinky Soliman and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Benito Ramos.

"Gusto ko ma-account kung mayroon po sana karamihan [ng nawala]. Kundi lahat kung pwede buhay pa, maabutan natin as soon as possible... pero siyempre kailangan maasikaso lahat ng nabubuhay," the president told members of the media shortly after his arrival at the Davao airport.

He said that he would conduct an inspection on the evacuation areas in Compostela Valley and find out how to improve these temporary shelters to prepare for future catastrophies.

"Gusto ko pong malaman kung bakit nangyari po itong trahedyang ito. Gusto ko makita rin paano natin maiiwasan ng ganitong trahedya," he added.

After visiting Compostela Valley, the President will proceed to Davao Oriental where hundreds died during the height of typhoon Pablo.
