MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday announced the formation of a special body to look into the claims of a policeman that his superior and a fellow police officers are involved in recycling of confiscated illegal drugs.

NCRPO police director Leonardo Espina has created a special investigation task group headed by Chief Superintendent Sonny David, the NCRPO Deputy Regional Director for Administration, to investigate the allegations of PO3 Alexander Saez of Taguig City police.  Espina will also issue the administrative relief of Taguig City police chief Senior Superintendent Tomas Apolinario Jr and nine other policemen of the anti-illegal drugs Special Operations Task Group (SIAD-SOTG) upon the finding of probable cause by the special investigating body.

Espina said  the SITG will also include Saez in the investigation who admitted his participation in the illegal activities.

David will be assisted by Regional Investigation chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen and the Regional Personnel chief, Senior Superintendent Arthur Ferlix Asis.

Espina gave David 30 days to resolve the case.

He said that he will make sure that an objective and factual investigation run its due course to ferret out the truth. - Dennis Carcamo
