Another Abra Hitman Falls
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Another hitman for hire in Abra has been arrested by authorities.
The arrest of Louie Macarisay Tejero, 21, on 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at his house in Sitio Dalnatan, Barangay Agtangao in Bangued, Abra came two days after policemen killed the most wanted assassin in Kalinga over the weekend.
Tejero, who was wanted for multiple murder, is a member if the "Vincent Guzman PAG", which has been operating in Abra over the past several years, said Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong.
Policemen seized a 12-gauge shotgun from the suspect.
Magalong said the police's success in neutralizing security threats in the region, particularly in Abra and Kalinga, would help in securing the elections next year.
Abra has been perennially problematic especially during the election season with the presence of hired guns allegedly employed by “warlord politicians” to protect them and even sow terror.
Abra was included in the 15 areas in the country cited by the police as election “areas of concern”.
A week ago, policemen also cornered another wanted assassin and a leader of a gun-for-hire group --Prudencio Britanico Jr., and his aide in Manila.
