BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Properties worth about P2.3 million were gutted in fires that hit the University of Saint La Salle (USLS) here and a distillery in Bago City, both in Negros Occidental, last Tuesday, authorities said.

A blaze struck the Distilleria de Bago in Barangay Taloc, Bago City at around 7:30 a.m. Monday, razing about P2 million worth of property, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said.

A 15-minute fire, meanwhile, hit the USLS five hours later, damaging four classrooms of its Integrated School and caused P350,000 in damage, the BFP added.
