MANILA, Philippines - A suspect in the kidnapping of murder convict Rolito Go on Friday surrendered to authorities to clear his name in the incident.
Reynaldo Angeles, 33, was accompanied by his uncle, Romulo Latayan, when he was presented to members of the media at the National Capital Region Police Office in Taguig City.
In a radio interview, Latayan said his nephew only knew that he was implicated in the kidnapping of Go and the convict's personal nurse and nephew when he recently saw it in the news.
"Walang siyang karanasan sa ganyang pangyayari, wala pong alam dyan," Latayan said.
He said Angeles went to his house in Brgy. San Vicente, Sto. Tomas, Batangas Wednesday night to ask for advice about him being implicated in the Go kidnapping.
"Humihingi siya ng payo kasi sya po ay inosente sa pangyayari," Latayan said.
He added that Angeles mentioned a certain Ka Rico who introduced to him several of his friends. Angeles became friends with Ka Rico because they have known each other since attending birthday celebrations, fiestas and cockfights, he said.
Latayan said Ka Rico wanted to bring along some of his friends to sleep over at the house of Angeles.
Angeles, however, turned down the request noting that it is the house of his grandparents, Latayan added.
