Davao farmer urged: Prove raps vs 8 soldiers

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY , Philippines– The Philippine Army is urging a 19-year-old farmer in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley who filed a complaint before the Commission on Human Rights against eight members of the 66th Infantry Battalion to prove his claim and also file before the police to expedite the investigation.

“He should file the complaint before a proper forum so that the accused, if his claim is true, can answer his accusations,” said Lt. Col. Lyndon Paniza, spokesman of the 10th Infantry Division.

Paniza said they would also investigate the eight soldiers and two members of the Army’s Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) who were accused of beating up and torturing the farmer.
