Zambo Sur police chief sacked over pyramiding scam

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - The Zamboanga del Sur provincial police director has been sacked from his post as several policemen under his command fell victims to the get-rich-quick scam of the Aman Futures Group.

Chief Superintendent Napoleon EStilles, Zamboanga Peninsula regional police chief, identified the sacked official as Senior Superintendent William Marzan. He was replaced by Senior Superintendent Romeo Uy.

“We have relieved him because he was not able to supervise his people who fell victims to the scam,” Estilles said in a phone interview on Thursday.

Marzan's sacking came barely a week after the relief of Pagadian City Police chief, Superintendent Kenneth Mission, and nine police intelligence personnel under the provincial office.

EStilles said that investigations are ongoing on how the policemen fell victims to the company run by Filipino-Malaysian Manuel Amalilio.

“We have complainants who were mostly policemen assigned in the area,” Estilles said.

Thousands of residents of Pagadian, including local government officials, military, police, teachers, drivers and even vendors were defrauded by Amalilio's group.

Estilles said they were still expecting a number of policemen and officers to come out and admit that they were also victimized by Amalilio's group.
