5 Quezon jail escapees recaptured

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Five of the seven inmates who bolted the Polillo jail in Quezon were recaptured Sunday night, police said yesterday.

Police identified the escapees as Merlito Go, Leoven Go, Mark Anthony Capayas, Arnold John Montano and  Arwel Grispor.

Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon, Quezon police director, said Merlito surrendered to Polillo Mayor Jojie Verzosa at around 11:45 a.m.

The four other escapees were arrested by a team of policemen headed by Superintendent Ramon Balauag, provincial intelligence bureau chief, in Barangay Languyin at around 7 p.m.

The inmates, who escaped last Thursday, sawed off the grills of their detention cell. – Ed Amoroso, Cecille Suerte Felipe
