LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Policemen raided a marijuana plantation in sitio Wa-in, Barangay Bugnay, Tinglayan town on Wednesday

More than 1,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P200,000 went up in the air after raiding operatives torched the contraband in the 2,500-square meter plantation, said Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Benjamin Magalong.

After the raid,  operatives conducted a meeting with villagers in nearby Buscalan, also in the said town “conscientizing” them on the hazards of  involvement in the illegal marijuana trade.

Meanwhile, in Mt. Province, marijuana bricks where found in a parcel delivered at JRS Branch Sub-ang, Bontoc, Mt. Province the other day.

JRS-Bontoc branch manager Clement Pomekcha noticed the suspected “hashish” wrapped with transparent cellophane and was supposedly sneaked in to pass as a common package. The blue plastic envelope and an “official record book” was allegedly sent by a person, whose name was withheld.

The “shipment” was three suspected marijuana bricks weighing 320 grams valued at P8,000.00.

Police are now digging deep on the identity of the shipper.
