Spaghetti, pancit down 53 in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines –  At least 53 persons, including one year olds, were brought to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital after eating spaghetti and pancit at a birthday celebration in Barangay Gapo in Daraga, Albay.

Lita Gruta, one of the victims, said she felt dizzy, suffered nausea, diarrhea and stomach ache.

Chito Mendosa, Albay provincial health officer, said a health surveillance team composed of two nurses, a medical technologist and water sanitary engineer went to Barangay Gapo to conduct an investigation, distribute medicines and take rectal swabs and water samples.
