ABS-CBN reporter’s house burglarized
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – ABS-CBN crime reporter Gus Abelgas fell victim to suspected Akyat Bahay gang members, who ransacked his house at Bel Air Subdivision in Sta. Rosa, Laguna Sunday evening.
Senior Superintendent Fausto Manzanilla, Laguna police director, said the robbery occurred between 1:30 to 9 p.m. when nobody is at the house.
Manzanilla said investigators are eyeing an inside job in the break-in.
“All the doors were destroyed, including the main gate’s lock. The robbers entered through the kitchen door at the back of the house,” Abelgas told investigators.
Manzanilla said neighbors saw a white L-300 van near Abelgas’s house prior to the robbery.
Abelgas said the television, air bed and other personal belongings that the robbers carted away were recovered inside a makeshift nipa hut at a vacant lot behind their house. – Ed Amoroso, Cecille Suerte Felipe
