Police name 3 more suspects in FEU campus stabbing
MANILA, Philippines - Police on Friday identified the three other female suspects in the stabbing of a University of Santo Tomas (UST) student inside the Far Eastern University's campus in Manila last October 2.
Superintendent James Afalla, commander of the Manila Police District Station 4, identified the three students as April Borromeo, Danica Suba and Danica Ortega.
Afalla said that the names were submitted to the police by the FEU administration.
He said that the three suspects have been expelled from the university and they have been charged with frustrated murder.
"The FEU management has issued a restraining order, I think these [suspects] have been expelled for protection of the other students... They are facing frustrated murder charges," Afalla said in an interivew over radio dzMM.
The Manila police had identified another suspect in the attack, Christina Acosta, a fourth year nursing student of FEU. Manhunt operations have been launched against the student.
Afalla said that investigators are still trying to identify another suspect in the attack against Joanne Lourdes Concepcion Reyes, 20, an Information Technology student of UST.
Reyes had just attended the awarding ceremony of a film competition inside the university when she was attack by a group of female students.
Police said that according to Reyes, who survived at least five stab wounds, said that she was attacked by four to five people. The suspects attacked the victim with a pepper spray first before repeatedly stabbing her.
The attack on Reyes was caught on closed-circuit television camera. But the faces of those shown in the video were blurred; authorities were having a hard time identifying them.
