LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines – A 17-year-old boy died when he was hit by a train while crossing the railroad track in Barangay Sugcad, Polangui, Albay on Friday, the police reported yesterday.
Chief Inspector Jon Retumban, Polangui police chief, identified the victim as Joseph Cerillo, a resident of the place where the accident occured.
Quoting witnesses, Retumban said the victim crossed the track even though a Manila-bound train was approaching.
“I did not expect that he would cross the railroad track because he already noticed the arriving train. Probably he assumed he will not be hit,” said train operator Jaime Palma, who immediately surrendered to the Polangui police.
