Boy, 6, survives 6th floor fall

- Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Except for a minor injury on the head, a six-year-old boy survived his fall from a sixth floor balcony of a hotel in this city’s downtown area Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Police said the boy, whose named was withheld, was staying with his mother and two young sisters in a sixth floor room of the hotel on Mayor Jaldon Street when the incident occurred.

Investigation showed the boy was with his three-year-old sister in their room’s balcony when he fell.

Witnesses told police the boy first hit electrical cables, which helped cushion the impact of his fall.

The hotel’s owner rushed the boy to a nearby hospital and shouldered his medical expenses.
