Despite disowned by LP, Bigcas can still run - Comelec
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Despite being disowned by the Liberal Party (LP), controversial car dealer Lynard Allan Bigcas can still run for government office, the local office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.
Bigcas, who is running for the gubernatorial post in Bukidnon against incumbent Vice Gov. Jose Maria Zubiri, filed his certificate of candidacy in Malaybalay City on Tuesday.
Bigcas has openly declared he is a member of the LP, a claim that Sen. Teofisto Guingona III, an LP leader, has strongly denied.
In a statement, Guingona said Bigcas’ claim to being an LP candidate in Bukidnon is “totally false.”
Bigcas is being charged with smuggling and illegal possession of firearms and illegal substances and is out on bail.
