ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Three persons, including a village chairman and his son, were killed while two others were wounded when two clans supporting different candidates, clashed in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur, police said.

Senior Superintendent William Manzan, police provincial chief, identified the victims as Noeh Rosing, barangay captain of Pawan; his son Banjing, political manager of the Jalosjos camp; and Daniel Rosing, a supporter of Cerilles camp.

Daniel’s two other companions, identified as Belito Rosing and Willy Pertino, were wounded in the encounter.

Investigation showed that Noeh and his son just arrived home from a political gathering of the Nationalista Party with Jalosjos in Pagadian City when the group of Daniel came and stabbed his cousin before shooting him. Daniel, a wanted criminal, reportedly warned his cousin against supporting Jalosjos.
