MANILA, Philippines - The Liberal Party is fielding Fr. Leo Casas for governor of Masbate, Albay Gov. Joey Salceda said yesterday.
“He (Casas) was recommended by Atty. Leni Robredo. I was asked by headquarters about him. I vouched for his integrity and competence since he has been my RDC (Regional Development Council) co-chair and was recently reappointed by P-Noy (President Aquino),” added Salceda in his Facebook account.
Casas, 37, a Catholic priest for nine years, is the director of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Masbate for seven years. He has been the co-chairman of the Bicol RDC, representing the private sector, since 2010.
Casas, a Masbateño, is also among the convenors of the Masbate Advocates for Peace, an organization of various sectors in Masbate formed in 2010 that seeks to end political violence in the island-province.
