MANILA, Philippines - Rep. Lucy Torres’ constituents have spoken. After over two years in office, her string of accomplishments has made a mark on the people of the fourth district of Leyte.
A survey was conducted from Sept. 12 to 17 with 1,000 respondents in the fourth district, and the results indicated that 90 percent of the respondents would vote for her if the elections were held today, a 23 percent increase from a similar poll in 2011.
There has been an increasing trend in her survey ratings, since her win in the 2010 elections where she cornered 57 percent of the votes.
Survey results in 2011 showed her ratings increased by 10 percent, significant for a neophyte who has been in an office for barely a year. The overall increase of 33 percent in two years is seen as an affirmation of her by the electorate.
In the current survey, Torres clinched all six municipalities comprising the fourth district of Leyte.
In the same survey, Richard Gomez and Matt Torres also sustained their wide leads in Ormoc City and Kananga town, respectively.
