2 charged frat men are sons of NBI officials

- Sandy Araneta - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two of the members of the Lex Leonum Fraternitas of the San Beda College of Law charged recently by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) before the Dasmariñas, Cavite prosecutor’s office, are sons of two officials of the agency.

NBI director Nonnatus Caesar Roxas confirmed this in an interview with reporters at the NBI headquarters in Manila yesterday.

Earlier, lawyer Manuel George Jularbal, chief of NBI-National Capital Region, identified the two frat members as Levi Lalusis, son of NBI Death Investigation Division executive officer Danielito Lalusis, and Ray Jacinto Vigilia, son of NBI Region 4-A director Rustico Vigilia.

A total of 36 members of Lex Leonum Fraternitas have been charged with violation of Republic Act 8049, or the Anti-Hazing Law, for the death of Marc Andrei Marcos.

Marcos died of extensive traumatic injuries of the lower and upper extremities as a result of the hazing rites carried out by officers and members of Lex Leonum Fraternitas last July 29 at Veluz Farm in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

“Yes. That is confirmed.  Even if they are sons of our ranking agents, we filed the case against these persons,” Roxas said, adding that their fathers will keep their hands off the case.

“Of course. I will in fact direct them to stay off this case. But as a matter of policy in the NBI, you should not meddle in the case, even if the one involved is your son, especially if your son is the respondent,” he said.
