Sons of Bong, Ping rivals in Cavite polls?
MANILA, Philippines - The sons of two veteran senators may slug it out in the vice gubernatorial race in Cavite in next year’s elections.
Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. revealed yesterday that his son, Jolo, may be pitted against the son of Sen. Panfilo Lacson in the Cavite polls.
Lacson said last week he would have to discuss with his son Jay his ambition to be involved in local politics.
The young Revilla will be the running mate of incumbent Cavite Gov. Johnvic Remulla.
“This is going to be just a friendly competition. This is going to be fair game,” Revilla said in a radio interview.
On observations that Jolo is too young to aspire for the vice governorship, Revilla said his son, who is turning 25, “has gone a long way experience-wise.”
He said his son is a barangay chairman, president of the local Association of Barangay Captains, provincial board member, and executive vice president of the Liga ng mga Barangay.
Revilla became vice governor at 28.
Revilla also announced yesterday the political tie-up in Cavite of Lakas and the Magdalo group of the Remulla clan.
