1 killed, 2 wounded in shooting incident
COTABATO CITY – A 14-year-old villager was killed while two others were seriously wounded when unidentified gunmen strafed with bullets the house of an ethnic Iranon family in Maguindanao’s Barira town.
Police investigators identified the fatality as Bataga Gampong, who suffered multiple shrapnel wounds when a shoulder-fire grenade projectile one of the gunmen fired at their house exploded.
The suspects crawled near the house of the Gampongs in Sitio Dimoroyod in Barangay Tugaig and opened fire with M-14 and M-16 rifles.
The shooting frenzy left two other housemates wounded, Omar Gampong and Wahida Orac Omar, who were rushed by responding soldiers and civilian volunteers to a hospital here.
Investigators are still determining the motive for the attack and the identities of the culprits.
