MANILA, Philippines - A 5.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded near northern Samar yesterday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said there was no reported damage from the quake, but they are expecting aftershocks.
The temblor occurred at around 3:03 p.m. at 88 kilometers northeast of Mapanas, Northern Samar. It is said to be tectonic in origin.
