3 P'sinan teens arrested for broadcaster's killing
TAYUG, Pangasinan, Philippines – Police arrested three teenagers a few hours after they allegedly stabbed and hacked to death a broadcaster in this town Thursday morning, authorities said.
Chief Inspector Gaspar Dacpano, Tayug chief here, told The STAR that the body of Rizalino Salinas, 46, of dwRS Radyo ng Bayan-Tayug, was found by a farmer in a rice field in Barangay Trenchera at around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Dacpano said Salinas, who was only in his underwear, could have been killed about four or five hours earlier. His body bore multiple stab and hack wounds.
Two of the arrested suspects were identified as Isagani Alina, 18, and Leo Cabanisan, 19. The third suspect is a minor aged 16.
Dacpano said personal grudge motivated the killing based on the confession of the suspects to police probers.
He said Salinas and the three suspects had a drinking spree in a house about 50 meters away from where the broadcaster’s body was dumped.
Dacpano said they were set to file murder charges against the suspects yesterday.
Bernie Errasquin, president of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas Pangasinan chapter and station manager of dzMQ Radyo ng Bayan-Dagupan, condemned what he said was the senseless killing of Salinas, who he described as a “very good person.”
Salinas also worked for Bombo Radyo Dagupan.
