DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The regional council of the National Democratic Front in southern Mindanao has ordered the New People’s Army (NPA) to indemnify the victims of the grenade explosion in Paquibato district here last Sept. 1.
At least 41 villagers, including children, were wounded in the blast which rebel leaders had admitted to be the handiwork of the NPA’s Pulang Bagani Command.
Police have filed charges of frustrated murder against the NPA command’s leader, Leoncio Pitao, alias Kumander Parago, his son Ryan, and seven other rebels.
