DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Australian Federal Police is training their Philippine counterparts on bomb data center management.
Southern Mindanao regional police office director Chief Superintendent Jaime Morente said explosives and ordnance personnel of the Philippine National Police in Mindanao are on a five-day seminar-workshop in this city.
Morente said the workshop is part of the technical assistance Australia has been extending to Southeast Asian and Pacific nations on anti-terrorism.
“Australia has sent experts who would help in the examination and analysis of bombs and bombing incidents based on what the bomb data centers gathered,” Morente said.
There are two bomb data centers in the Philippines – one here and another in Metro Manila.
Morente said the seminar-workshop also entails sharing of information on the types of bombs as well as the modus operandi employed by terrorist groups.
He said it is the first time that Australia is giving training on bomb data center management.
