La Union town mayor ambushed

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The mayor of Tubao, La Union cheated death after unidentified men peppered his car with bullets as he was cruising Aspiras Highway in his hometown yesterday morning, reports said.

Mayor Dante Garcia, according to the reports, was able to swerve his car after a maroon Toyota Innova overtook him and fired at his vehicle.

The armed men sped away after shooting Garcia’s car five times.
