MANILA, Philippines – Authorities have confiscated 8,000 board feet of abandoned lumber worth P121,257 in Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said yesterday.
PCG personnel along with operatives of the Philippine National Police-Maritime Group and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources seized the illegally cut logs in Sitio Dapdap in Barangay Iddalawan, Balabac town.
Policemen were checking reports of illegal logging in the area when they spotted an abandoned raft loaded with 86 pieces of assorted wood.
Reports said the seized logs were intended for Sabah, Malaysia.
