SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) has announced that an additional 37,519 families in the province will receive cash assistance through the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Elizabeth Baybayan, officer-in-charge of the provincial social welfare and development, said the beneficiaries are from the towns of Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Magalang, Mexico, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon, Sta. Ana, Sta. Rita, Sto. Tomas and Sasmuan.
The number of 4Ps beneficiaries in the province rose to 47,519 this year.
Gov. Lilia Pineda lauded the national government for extending assistance to poor Kapampangan families.
“We are thankful to the national government for including our poor constituents in the 4Ps of the DSWD and for giving us 40,000 Philhealth cards,” Pineda said.
To be qualified as a 4Ps beneficiary, the household must be classified as poor based on the criteria set by the government’s National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction, and must have a pregnant woman and/or children up to 14 years old as household members.
The beneficiaries receive P1,400 cash subsidy per month from the government.
