4 Calabarzon police chiefs sacked

- Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Four police chiefs in Rizal, Cavite and Lucena City in Quezon were removed from their posts for failing to curb illegal gambling and robberies in their respective turfs.

Chief Superintendent James Melad, Calabarzon police director, identified the sacked police chiefs as Superintendent Ruel Mendoza Vacaro, of Angono, Rizal; Superintendent Noel Ponollera, of Cainta, Rizal; Superintendent Ramon Balauag, of Lucena City; and Superintendent Egberto Tibayan, of Gen. Trias City, Cavite.

Melad said the four police officials were sacked under the “one-strike” and “no-take” policies of the national police against illegal gambling and criminality.

“I ordered the relief of the four town chiefs upon the recommendation of the investigation panel tasked to look if there were lapses or failure to curb illegal gambling by every chief of police in the Calabarzon region,” Melad told The STAR.
