Nadecor CSR programs in full swing in Compostela Valley
MANILA, Philippines - The community relations program of the Nationwide Development Corp. (Nadecor), owner and operator of the Kingking copper-gold project in Pantukan, Compostela Valley, are now in full swing.
Nadecor has planted close to 40 hectares in various areas around the mining project site with thousands of trees, consistent with its policy of preserving the environment, alongside its commitment to responsible mining.
Nadecor, which holds a mineral production and sharing agreement on the largest copper and gold deposits in the country, is also embarking on a coherent corporate social responsibility (CSR) program to match its “doing well” with “doing good” projects.
Aside from environmental protection, Nadecor has taken initiatives in community health care, scholarship and apprenticeship program, employment generation, promotion of indigenous people’s welfare, and assistance in rescue and retrieval operations in times of emergencies.
Nadecor’s reforestation and greening program began in earnest in April 2011, when it planted total of 1,200 mahogany seedlings over a two-hectare area. At yearend of 2011, Nadecor, enlisting local residents, planted 7,500 falcata seedlings over a vast area of 15 hectares.
The company has conducted several medical outreach programs in various sitios of Barangay King-king where more than 300 patients received medical services like free medical diagnoses and treatments, dental service and tips on hygiene and sanitation.
