ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A special resource analyst of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle near his house in a village here on Sunday, police said yesterday.
Rogelio Miang, 50, had just alighted from a passenger tricycle and was walking toward his house in Barangay Tumaga when he was shot.
Miang was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
The gunman, who was positively identified by one of the witnesses from a police lineup, was arrested after a relative surrendered him.
The police withheld the name of the suspect pending the result of the investigation.
Authorities refused to say if the killing was related to the confiscation of around 700,000 board feet of narra and lawaan here last Friday.
