MANILA, Philippines - One of the founding members of the Abu Sayyaf in Tawi-Tawi was arrested by government forces last Saturday.

The arrest of Ahmadsali Asmad Badron, alias Ammad, came as government troops and the Abu Sayyaf figured in clashes in nearby Basilan island which left 10 soldiers dead.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said Badron, a cousin of the late Abu Sayyaf leader Nadzme Sabtula, alias Commander Global, had standing warrants of arrest for six counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention.
