BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – The number of dengue cases in Ifugao province has increased by more than 90 percent compared to the same period last year, its provincial health office (PHO) reported yesterday.
The Ifugao PHO said 287 dengue cases were recorded since January to June, compared to only 149 reported for the same period in 2011.
Mary Jo Dulawan of the PHO said there was no reported death due to dengue in Ifugao. A 22-year-old policeman from the Lagawe police station was, however, reported to have died of dengue at a Nueva Vizcaya hospital earlier this month.
Reports show that Lagawe has the highest number of dengue cases at 98; followed by Lamut, 51; Alfonso Lista, 42; Kiangan, 22; Aguinaldo, 21; Asipulo and Hingyon with 12 each; Hungduan, 10; Banaue; five; and Mayo-yao, four.
