16 hurt as jeep loses its brakes

MANILA, Philippines - At least 16 people were hurt when a speeding passenger jeepney lost its brakes, hit a concrete barrier and rammed two other vehicles before falling to its side in Taytay, Rizal yesterday.

The jeepney driven by Rolando Guerrero, 42, had come from Taytay town and was on its way to Crossing in Mandaluyong City when it figured in the mishap.

As of press time, two of the victims remained unconscious in the hospital.
