Agusan cop chief, DPWH worker wounded in landmine blast

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines  – The chief of police of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte and a highway maintenance worker of the Department of Public Works and Highways were wounded after a landmine allegedly planted by suspected New People’s Army rebels exploded along the national highway in Barangay San Roque in Kicharao town Friday.

Caraga police director Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Rafal identified the victims as Inspector Ernesto Telano and Allan Dumanggas.

Rafal said Telano and his men were on their way to serve a warrant of arrest for a wanted person in Jabonga town when the patrol car they are riding hit a landmine. 

Dumanggas, who was working by the roadside suffered shrapnel wounds in his body. He is now confined at a hospital in Kitcharao.
