MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhilPost) recently issued a special stamp promoting white water rafting in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) City.
PhilPost Philatelic Services director Lenny San Diego said it was not the first time they issued a stamp to boost a tourist attraction in the country.
PhilPost would be selling the 30 mm x 40 mm in size stamp at P9 each.
PhilPost produced 100,200 pieces of the CDO white water rafting stamp that was designed by the city’s information office and the National Historical Commission.
CDO, the capital city of Misamis Oriental, is known as the gateway of Northern Mindanao.
White water rafting in CDO started as a hobby for the locals until word of the city’s scenic and exhilarating white water rafting reached people from other parts of the country and attracted international tourists.
In 2008, the city council of CDO passed Resolution 8947-2008, declaring white water rafting as the primary “One Town, One Product” of CDO in recognition of the contribution of the industry in promoting entrepreneurship and creating jobs for Cagayanons.
