DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – An incoming third-year high school student was stabbed dead at the Dagupan City National High School in Barangay Tapuac Friday afternoon.
Madelaine Faith Goyena, 14, a resident of Sitio Calarin, Barangay Malued, suffered multiple stab wounds. Her killer also hit her face with a rock, Superintedent Romeo Caramat Jr., Dagupan police chief, said in an interview with The STAR.
Caramat said Dennis Escaño, 18, an incoming first-year high school student, was arrested and is under investigation for the murder of Goyena.
Goyena was supposed to participate in the Brigada Eskwela in preparation for the school opening. She was last seen talking with a male student described as chubby and about 5’5” to 5’6” tall.
Police investigators recovered a broken bread knife and a bloodied rock at the scene of the crime.
Police are investigating the victim’s friends to establish the possible motive of the murder.
