Burst tire causes death of doctor, 3 others
ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A physician and three of his companions were killed and four others were injured when their vehicle rolled over after one of its tires burst along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) in Porac, Pampanga last Tuesday afternoon.
A report from Camp Olivas identified the fatalities as Dr. Richard Quilang, 43, and his companions Mariel Ocampo, Charlote Rivera, and John Mallari.
Injured were Joyce Quilang, Rensie Ann Sabangan, Mary Joy Quilang, and Marian Jill Quilang.
The victims, according to the police, had come from the Subic Freeport and were traveling on the southbound lane of the SCTEX when the rear tire of the Ford Expedition that Quilang was driving, burst.
The vehicle hit the railings and rolled over at least thrice, a witness was quoted as saying.
The four fatalities were pronounced dead on arrival at the Bataan Peninsula Medical Center. – Ding Cervantes, Ric Sapnu
