OLONGAPO CITY, Philippines – A correspondent of Pilipino Star Ngayon filed criminal charges against a police director of this city last Tuesday.
Randy Datu filed charges of grave threat, oral defamation and coercion against Olongapo City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Christopher Tambungan.
Datu’s affidavit complaint stated that last April 3 at around 10:30 p.m., Tambungan invited members of media to help in the negotiations for the surrender of a hostage-taker.
While having a briefing inside the compound where the hostage drama was taking place, Tambungan shouted at Datu: “Who are you and what is your role here.”
Datu said he was surprised by Tambungan’s demeanor but still politely identified himself even though they have long known each other.
He said the police officer then shouted invectives at him, grabbed his shoulder and threatened to slap him in the face. He said Tambungan also drove him out and punched him in the back nearly making him stumble.
