5 killed in encounter with Cotabato carjackers

DAVAO CITY , Philippines  – At least two policemen, two suspected carjackers and a bystander were killed in an alleged shootout in Koronadal City Sunday night.

SPO1 Robert Muega of the Region 12 police office and Alfredo Suegay, an intelligence agent of the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office were shot when they accosted two suspected carjackers on a motorcycle in Purok Waling Waling in Barangay Pangasinan.

The suspects identified as Rolie Mamangcas Masulot and Ronnie Mangudadatu were also killed when Muega and Suegay fired back.

A bystander, identified as Christopher Calderon, was hit by a stray bullet and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital in Koronadal City.
