DAGUPAN CITY ,Philippines – The recall petition against the vice mayor and four councilors of Bani town will no longer proceed, as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has stopped all recall proceedings due to lack of manpower and funds.
Lawyer Temie Lambino, outgoing provincial election officer, said the Comelec issued an order to this effect last March 7. “The lapse of supposedly conducting recall election would be one year before the day of the May 13, 2013 elections and it’s now April,” Lambino said.
He said the Comelec order affected some 80 recall petitions across the country.
“Time and financial cons-traints were the primary reasons for the issuance of the order,” he said
Bani Vice Mayor Filipina Rivera and councilors Rosalinda Acenas, Ruben Ampler, Tamerlane Olores and Cothera Gwen Yamamoto became the subject of a recall petition filed last year.
