MANILA, Philippines - Thirty-two people, including three children, suffered from food poisoning in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan last Monday after eating suman or sweet rice cake.
The victims, mostly employees of the provincial capitol, complained of nausea, dizziness, vomiting and abdominal pain after eating suman sold in their office.
Eugene Cabrera, Mimaropa chief of the Office of Civil Defense, said they were still waiting for the results of laboratory tests to determine whether the suman caused the food poisoning.
He said 37 people ate the suman but five of them did not develop symptoms of food poisoning.
