ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A university president was gunned down yesterday by three unidentified men near his residence in Barangay Sta. Maria this city, police said.
Chief Inspector Larry Idelfonso Domingo, Police Station 7 commander, said the victim, Arturo Eustaquio, 60, president of the Universidad de Zamboanga, formerly known as Zamboanga A.E Colleges (ZAEC), had just come out of his house onboard a motorcycle when he was shot at around 1 p.m. yesterday.
Domingo said the gunmen fled aboard two motorcycles.
Neighbors rushed Eustaquio to the ZAEC Hospital, which is run by his family, but he died an hour later from six bullet wounds.
Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, city police chief, said there was no clear motive yet in Eustaquio’s killing.
