3 NPA rebels killed in N. Cotobato clash

COTABATO CITY ,Philippines  – Three communist rebels were killed while four others were wounded in an encounter with soldiers in North Cotabato’s Tulunan town Sunday.

The hostilities erupted when at least 50 New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas ambushed members of the Army’s 68th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Batang.

Members of the Tulunan municipal peace and order council identified the slain rebels as a certain Damaso, Suasing and Armando.

1st  Lt. Kenny Ramona, commanding officer of the 6th Infantry Batallion’s Bravo Company, said the NPAs were the same rebels behind the roadside bombings in nearby Makilala town recently.
