MANILA, Philippines - A 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit the province of Surigao del Sur yesterday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at around 12:48 p.m., 56 kilometers northeast of Tandag, Surigao del Sur.
It was felt at Intensity 2 in Butuan City and Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.
The earth’s movement was said to be tectonic in origin.
Phivolcs said it is not expecting any damages or aftershocks.
