Zambo City school principal shot dead
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The principal of a public elementary school here was gunned down last Wednesday afternoon in a village near the city dump, police said.
Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, city police chief, said the victim, Wilson Mission Resicio, 40, principal of the Lumayang Elementary School, was on his way home aboard his motorcycle when he was shot with a .45-caliber pistol by two men at around 4 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Lumbangan near the city dump.
Police found nine empty shells at the crime scene.
Citing witnesses’ accounts, police said the killing could have been planned as the gunmen had waited for Resicio in the area.
Police said Resicio’s attackers took his laptop, cell phone and wallet, although they suspect this was meant to mislead probers, who are looking at personal grudge as motive for the killing.
City school superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad urged police to give justice to Resicio’s family.
