Man kills wife, then self on Valentine's Day
MANILA, Philippines – In a fit of jealousy, a husband shot dead his wife inside their house in San Pascual, Batangas on Valentine’s Day. Several hours later, he was found dead in another town after committing suicide.
PO2 Francisco Bonado of the San Pascual police said Joel Labandila, 33, arrived at their house in Barangay Sto. Niño, San Pascual town Tuesday afternoon and confronted his wife Ria, 32, over an alleged illicit affair.
At the height of their heated argument, Labandila pulled out a caliber .45 pistol and shot his wife.
Police said Labandila fled onboard a Starex van, bringing the gun with him.
An hour later, elements of the Bauan police found Labandila dead at the Batangas Bay Terminal Inc. with a gunshot wound in the head.
“Initial investigation showed the suspect committed suicide but his (body) will still be autopsied and subjected to paraffin test to determine if he really fired a gun to support the theory of suicide,” Bonado said.
