MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-3.1 earthquake jolted parts of Ilocos Sur yesterday but there was no report of damage or injury, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor was recorded at around 11:01 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 29 kilometers southeast of Vigan.
The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Vigan and Intensity 1 in Santa.
Phivolcs said the tremor had a depth of 69 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Tectonic pertains to the movement of the earth’s crust.
