BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Four persons, two of them high school students, were killed while three others were wounded when a dump truck they were riding rammed a house along the national highway in Barangay Telaje in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur province Monday afternoon.
In a report to the Caraga police regional information office yesterday, the Surigao police office said among the casualties were Cornelia Mocay and Sherly Acevedo. Three of the wounded are in critical condition at the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center in Tandag City.
Tandag police identified the driver of the dump truck, who was also injured, as Virgilio Bolonia Corlit, 52.
Police reports stated that the dump truck hit a tricycle when its brake allegedly malfunctioned, before it hit the house of Constancia Bocario.
The driver and owner of the tricycle, Ryan Policarpio, was unhurt.
Tandag police said the dump truck was impounded.
