MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) said yesterday that a shellfish ban is being enforced in the waters of Wawa, Bani in Pangasinan.
Citing a bulletin of the Bureau of Fisheries an Aquatic Resources, the DOH said the shellfish ban remains in effect in Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental; Masinloc Bay in Zambales; Matarino Bay in Eastern Samar and in Bataan coastal waters of Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal.
The DOH said shellfish gathered from these areas have yielded “paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regularity limit.”
“All types of shellfish and alamang gathered from the areas are not safe for human consumption,” the DOH said.
